Success Story: Pentruder® beats the clock

A window of opportunity

Background

La Verne plays a vital role in supplying fresh water to some of California’s largest cities. When one of its pipes needed a major repair, the city contracted Dedicated Concrete Cutting and Cut It Up to do the work. The two veteran concrete-cutting experts turned to Pentruder® concrete cutting systems to make sure everything went off without a hitch.

The challenge

The La Verne Water Treatment Facility needed to remove a massive 45-foot section of pipe by wall-sawing from the inside and wire-sawing the outer perimeter. And they had just 30 hours to do it. With only enough reservoir capacity to last about a week, the entire project—including replacing the section—was on a strict timeline.

The solution

Pentruder electric saws eliminated the risk of oil spills, and their compact, lightweight design made them easy to handle in the tight work area. The innovative track system allowed mounting to the curved pipe, both inside and out, adding another layer of versatility and efficiency.

The result

They completed the wall- and wire-sawing in less than 20 hours, including five hours of standby time—under budget and well ahead of the 30-hour window.
